Program Goals

The program is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare and laboratory professionals who are involved in the research, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.


Target Audience

The program is designed to meet the needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals interested in the management of breast cancer patients.


Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss the clinical trials of trastuzumab (Herceptin) in the adjuvant setting including the NSABP B-31, NCCTG N9831, HERA clinical trial, and BCIRG006 clinical trial.
  2. Summarize the inclusion criteria for entry to these clinical trials.
  3. Compare HER-2 immunohistochemistry assay results with HER-2 fluorescence in situ hybridization assay results from women eligible for entry to the BCIRG006 clinical trial.
