Program Goals

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare and laboratory professionals involved in the research, diagnosis and treatment of hematological malignancies, such as Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Myeloproliferative Disorders (MPD).

Target Audience

Hematology oncologists, hematopathologists, clinical laboratory and other healthcare professionals interested in the management of patients with hematological malignancies.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:
  1. Summarize the clinical data regarding the importance of detecting chromosomal anomalies in MDS and MPD
  2. Discuss how the detection of these anomalies drives important decisions for therapy in these diseases
  3. Explain the diagnostic tests available for detecting these anomalies
  4. Discuss the importance of detecting these [potentially cryptic] anomalies with Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH)
