Program Goals
This program is designed to provide for the educational needs of health care providers regarding the clinical utility of sequencing based HLA typing and solving ambiguities generated by this methodology.
Target Audience
Laboratory directors, physicians, technicians, or researchers who routinely generate, use, or provide histocompatibility results to donor registries, transplant physicians, or clinical trials.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:- Evaluate the role of Sequence Based Typing (SBT) in HLA laboratories and registries.
- Discuss ambiguities and the source of those ambiguities generated by Sequence Based Typing (SBT).
- Summarize the use of Heterozygous Ambiguity Resolution Primers (HARPs) in resolving ambiguities generated by Sequence Based Typing (SBT).
- Review the use of Sequence Based Typing (SBT) and Heterozygous Ambiguity Resolution Primers (HARPs) in the HLA laboratory workflow.
