Program Goals

To summarize and improve the understanding of potential genetic effects in disease susceptibility and resistance.

Target Audience

Laboratory directors, physicians, technicians, or researchers who routinely generate, interpret, or provide tissue typing and immunogenetic tests for patients affected with HLA associated diseases, vaccine trials or epidemiologic studies.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Evaluate state-of-the-art methodologies used to assess HLA and disease associations.
2. Discuss potential genetic effects in disease susceptibility and resistance.
3. Summarize known, common HLA and disease associations.
4. Describe the results from different studies.
