Program Goals

To provide terms, tools, and applications of lean processing to enhance operational workflow in the molecular diagnostic laboratory.

Target Audience

Clinical laboratory directors, supervisors, technologists, administrators and other diagnostic testing personnel interested in lean applications for the molecular diagnostic laboratory.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Explain the similarities and differences between lean and other continuous improvement methods (philosophies).
2. Describe the foundational “lean” tools that assist with planning, implementing, and monitoring improvement activities.
3. Recognize implementation opportunities to enhance testing operation and processes.
4. Identify additional written materials / tools for more in-depth explanation, use, and implementation of lean activities
